There is a lovely moment in Serious Sam 4, right at first; If you played it that's why they got it into Game Pass you may remember it. Sam, the protagonist hero, travels with a group of soldiers to Rome, following the track of a cure that claims to have information about the Holy Grail. They are the soldiers who carry the conversation, ask questions to which Sam responds with a succession of very dry, as if he was barely paying attention. «This is some Da Vinci Code Shit, Man» , says a soldier, still stunned against the bizarre mission that is presented to them. Sam throws a grunt of disapproval. «Do not you like The Da Vinci code? He asks himself another soldier. «No», Sam responds. «It has no literary merit». The conversation jumps, suddenly, to literature; There we learned that Sam's favorite writer is Philip K. Dick.
Before alien hordes begin a virulent attack on the group, a soldier says: A moment, Sam Read Books?
It is the kind of characteristic of a character who does not expect from a character like Sam «Serious» Stone, a veteran figure of the Shooter in the first person who for two decades has been dedicated, at least in the sight of the public (in privacy Maybe I have also read The three stigmas of Palmer Eldritch), to exactly the same: frying tensions, hundreds, thousands of enemies in different locations from all over the planet, shooting and launching chascarrillos when the situation requires it as a luck of Duke Nuke postmodern. Siberian Mayhem , the independent expansion of Serious Sam 4 that is published today, is just the kind of more of the same to which Cream has used us to keep getting into a mud, that of shooting games in FIRST PERSON OF CLASSIC COURSE, IN WHICH WILL BE RELIGHT TO GIVEN AND TWENTY YEARS, WITHOUT I CARRY TO THE COOL OR NOT THAT THE GENDER HAS BEEN AT EACH TIME.
But Siberian Mayhem is not from Cream, but from Time lock Studio, a new Russian team that began creating mods; What we now receive as an independent game began, in fact, as an unofficial expansion for Serious Sam 4, before Cream and return sponsor and absorb the project. Siberian Mayhem levels are sufficiently robust as to understand that this sponsorship is not used, but the potential of a development was seen in which Serious Sam's philosophy is totally present. A part of that philosophy are the shootings, of course, abundant and frantic, in sands of different sizes and shapes (some closed, other open; some organic, others very explicitly designed to be shooting and movement places, with their jumping platforms and their well-plated Padilla), but serious Sam is more than that: they are the secrets, for example, omnipresent and sometimes hidden, difficult and fun to find, and the sense of humor with which realistic environments are mixed with A cast of monsters that could well be cousins of Canard, the half-octopus monster, a cloth half of karate to death in Torremolinos.
There is a part of Siberian Mayhem in which the additional resources were surely gone well, as in the greatest presence of dialogues or unbalanced recordings, which are caught from lore that usually leave around the video game characters offering a good collection of Complaints and Claims of Dmitry (in one, formally requests that in case of its more than likely death at the hands of aliens please write your name with I Greek, not Latin, so as not to create inconsistencies in the records: DIMITRI, With I Latina, it was the name of his grandfather); Perhaps it has also served to homogenize the project, bringing it closer to the structure of Serious Sam 4, with those maps that branch out on main and secondary missions. (A little help in the technical, especially to optimize performance, would not have been more, that's also true.)
Regardless of who has had what idea, Siberian Mayhem is another header against a wall in which Cream and company seems to be given for pleasure, not for not wanting or not knowing anything else: after all, much of the prestige of the study It has to do with The Talks Principle, a game well different from Serious Sam. He is the same joke as always but now in the snow; There is something almost pathetic in the ease with which I accept and enjoy these games, descerebrades but not stupid in a way that recalls Earth Defense a lot, but the truth is that until now Cream has fulfilled. Also, TimeDoc Studio complies with this new expansion or independent diver time, perhaps because what they imitate, after all, a literary merit closer to that of the Da Vinci code than that of Philip K. Dick.
